Your doctors and network
The Employee Advantage network gives you the freedom and flexibility to see more than 24,000 providers throughout Massachusetts and Southern New Hampshire. This includes the UMass Memorial Health Care providers—our experienced clinicians, nationally-acclaimed specialists and innovative medical technology. And when you see a Tier 1 specialist, you pay less.
The Employee Advantage is an HMO plan, which means that in order for you to receive coverage for services, you need to see in-network providers. If you choose to see a provider who is not in The Employee Advantage network, services will not be covered. The only exception is emergency care—with The Employee Advantage, you are covered for worldwide emergency care, no matter where you receive it.

Specialist tiers
Tier 1 and Tier 2
As a member of The Employee Advantage plan, when you see a Tier 1 specialist you will have lower copayments.
The tiering works as follows:
Tier 1: This tier includes UMass Memorial specialists and other affiliated specialists. You will pay a lower copayment when you see a Tier 1 plan specialist.
Tier 2: This tier includes all other plan physicians in The Employee Advantage provider network.
